Saudi Arabia has introduced a new transit visa allowing travellers to stay in the country for up to 4 days. The visa became effective on Monday and can be applied for through Saudia Airlines and Flynas websites. The visa is part of the Vision 2030 strategy to boost tourism in the country and will be issued with plane tickets and valid for 3 months.
The transit visa is the latest in a series of visa reforms in Saudi Arabia, including the introduction of visa-on-arrival for selected passport holders in September 2022. The Stopover Visa is being hailed as a landmark example of public and private sector cooperation, with four of the top 10 global routes being in or out of Saudi airports in 2022.
The Minister of Tourism said the Stopover Visa is proof of Saudi’s commitment to developing and growing its tourism sector.
